It's a little small in there but the food was great and so was the service. The fried chicken was delicious.

Had a nice brunch here. I love the menu, the ambience, and the people. It seems like there are lots of regulars and people that take pride in the place. I had the tuna melt with onion rings - really good. My husband devoured his burger. Only dislike was the "famous" house pickles - I thought they were lacking flavor.

This was our second visit to Mattie's the first was almost a year ago. Now I recall why we hadn't been back sooner. The service was decent, our waitress was pleasant. Overall we didn't wait too long between sitting, just find yourself a seat we were told, and being addressed by her. She took our order without writing it down. My wife chose the chicken fried chicken with sawmill gravy, asking for the gravy on the side. Her sides were mashed potatoes and onion rings. I ordered the pot roast with mashed potatoes and mixed greens. The food came fairly fast. My wife's chicken came with the gravy on it, not on the side as requested. Not the worst thing in the world but when you're not the biggest fan of gravy it makes a difference. She asked for it on the side so she could taste it to see if she liked it. Instead of sending it back she scraped off all she could. Turns out she was not a huge fan of the gravy flavor. She finished the majority of the chicken though. Her sides were good, especially the onion rings. Now to the part where I remember why we hadn't been back in a while. The pot roast was so tender you could cut it with a fork but it tasted like a salt lick. I'm could cut the salt some if I ate the meat with my mashed potatoes but the celery and carrots that came with the pot roast were inedible because of the salt. The greens though flavorful were salty as well and I stopped waiting them halfway through. I gave it all a 4 for the potential as everything was flavorful but the salt was just too overpowering for me. I know there are other things on the menu and we might come back by another time and try something new but again the salt was just too much.

Visited on a Sunday morning around 10am and had no wait. Ordered the Hunka Hunka Burnin' Toast which is Challah French toast with peanut butter and bananas and comes with a side of meat. I ordered bacon. Unfortunately the bacon came out way later than the French Toast and we had to ask the waiter a couple times to bring it. The French toast was delicious. Definitely would return if I was in the area.

Sunday is our chill day so we decided to go somewhere casual at Mattie's diner. We were told we could sit anywhere so we took a booth in the larger room. I was craving pancakes so I got the regular blueberry pancakes and vegan sausage which was delicious. My hubby got the hunka burnin peanut butter and banana French toast with country ham. He enjoyed it but you have to really like peanut butter. We both drank half sweet half unsweetened tea. The staff was friendly and attentive. They also have outdoor seating. Our bill was about $34. The only problem parking is tight. We definitely will be back.

Good experience! They have lots of tables in the back - the front looks like a traditional diner which was cute and hectic - so we took advantage of the beautiful weather and sat on the patio. No wait! The waitress came promptly and our food came out quickly too. Kept our coffees and waters filled, plus they were friendly. We ordered the pot roast bowl and the ya might be a redneck breakfast. Both were delicious and again, came out pretty fast. Glad we spent our morning there! We will be back sometime soon.

We went for a week day breakfast and walked right in. We sat out front on the patio and our server was so nice. We chatted with her as we ordered our water and coffee. My husband ordered the Taylor ham roll and I got the hunka hunka French toast which was delicious. I used more strawberry jam Than syrup which almost made it like a pbj sandwich. Can't wait to go back again for another casual, diner breakfast

Food fast and made to order!! Service was attentive and friendly. I loved the sweet potato home fries, I highly recommend!! Ambiance is casual and great for large parties and wheelchair accessible. I highly recommend.
